Keeping Up!
San Fernando South Central Integrated School has re-launched its Reading and Numeracy Innovation labeled “𝑰𝑵𝑻𝑨𝒀𝑶𝑵 𝑨𝑮𝑩𝑨𝑺𝑨 𝑲𝑬𝑵 𝑨𝑮𝑩𝑰𝑳𝑨𝑵𝑮: 𝑫𝒖𝒓-𝒂𝒔 𝑺𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒃 𝒕𝒊 𝑷𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒅𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏.” The activity commenced last April 11, 2023.
Setting afloat of the said project aims to continue and improve the previous remodeling of the reading and numeracy track of the school. ARE (Adopt a Reader Enthusiast) Program, I3 (Intayon Ilayon ti Iloko), 3Ps:Parents Partnership Program, OPM (Oral for Pupils through Music), BRO (Buddy on Reading Operation), SPG on the Go Readers Circle, Campus Journalists Readers Circle ,Green Girls on the Go, SHIP: Senior High Immersion Program, Basatek: Pagbasa Kaagapay ang Teknolohiya and Visita Pabasa are some of the underlying programs of the mother innovation.
Specifically speaking, each sub- innovation focuses on different target goals. As an example, the Adopt a Reader innovation is a 20- day challenge which aims to improve the reading ability of the learners, establishing love and enjoyment in reading and appreciate reading with others. On the other hand, OPM (Oral Reading for Pupils through Music) has a target on providing the learners a non- competitive tool for learning reading, it also targets learning more words while enjoying the melody of familiar songs, thus, assessing the fluency of learners through oral reading of song lyrics. Moreover, Ship: Senior High Immersion Program eyes the building of partnership of senior high school learners with elementary learners in improving reading with the help of digital stories made purposely by the senior high students. In which, the senior high students will act as storytellers/ tutors of the elementary pupils.
